How to Access

Select Components > J2XML from the drop-down menu on the back-end of your Joomla! installation.

Description

J2XML is an easy to use import/export solution for your Joomla!® powered website.

Toolbar

At the top right you will see the toolbar:

  • Import. To import articles from XML file. Select the file using browse... button and click on this button.
  • Parameters. Click this button to open the Global Configuration window. This window allows you to set default parameters for this type of item. See Global Configuration.
  • Help. Opens this Help Screen.

Export and Send

To export articles or to send articles to others web site you have to use the extra buttons on the Article Manager toolbar, Article Trash toolbar, Section Manager and Category Manager.

To view extra button you have to enable System - J2XML plugin. Before to use the function Send you have to insert website data from the Website Manager.

Global Configuration

Click the Parameters button to open the J2XML Global Configuration window as shown below. These parameters are the default values for Import/export functions.

  • Save. Press Save to save your settings.
  • Cancel. Press Cancel to cancel your changes.
  • Export Images (No/Yes). Whether or not to export images with base64 encode.
  • Export Users (No/Yes). Whether or not to export the sections and categories related to articles.
  • Compress (No/Yes). Whether or not to compress output.
  • Import Articles (Yes, if not exists/Yes, overwrite if exists). What to do if articles already exist.
  • Import Images (No/Yes, if not exists/Yes, overwrite if exists). Whether or not to import images and what to do if them already exist.
  • Import Categories (No/Yes, if not exists/Yes, overwrite if exists). Whether or not to import sections and categories and what to do if them already exist.
  • Import Users (No/Yes, if not exists/Yes, overwrite if exists). Whether or not to import users and what to do if them already exist.
  • Access Level (Keep the original access level/Public/Registered/Special). Whether or not to keep the original access level and what to do if article does not exists.
  • State (Keep the original state/Published/Unpublished). Whether or not to keep the original state (publication state, date to start and date to finish publishing the article, hits) and what to do if article does not exists.
  • Keep author (No/Yes). Whether or not to keepthe userwhocreatedoreditedthe article, the dateandtime thearticle waslast modifiedandtherevision number. Default values are the user who imports the articles and current date and time.
  • Keep category (No/Yes). Whether or not to keep original category and section. Default is uncategorised.
  • Keep attribs (No/Yes). Whether or not to keep original attribs. Default is null.
  • Keep metadata (No/Yes). Whether or not to keep original metadata. Default is null.
  • Keep frontpage (No/Yes). Whether the articles on the front page will be shown on the front page after the import.
  • Keep rating (No/Yes). Whether or not to keep original article rating. Default is 0.
